Vincent Povazsay

Vincent Povázsay is the Co-Director and Conductor of earspace and serves as a Cover Conductor with the North Carolina Symphony. earspace is a contemporary chamber music ensemble based in Raleigh, NC that aims to promote contemporary music and rethink the possibilities of modern performance by presenting multi-sensory experiences. Povázsay’s performances have been hailed as “mature and insightful” by New York Arts and he was praised as “a striking figure on the podium” by CVNC.

An ardent interpreter of contemporary music, Povázsay served as the Assistant Conductor of the Northwestern University Contemporary Music Ensemble under Alan Pierson. He has also served as Assistant Conductor for productions with the North Carolina Opera. In 2018, he conducted the world premiere staging of Family Secrets: Kith and Kin, a chamber opera written and conceived by a team of North Carolina based artists. Povázsay has appeared as a guest conductor with the Janáček
Philharmonic, International Contemporary Ensemble, North Carolina Opera, Northwestern Philharmonia, UNC Symphony Orchestra, Meredith College Opera, Lee County Community Orchestra, and the Chapel Hill Philharmonia, among other ensembles. He has worked with many leading composers and performers including, David Lang, Donnacha Dennehy, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Claire Chase, Iarla Ó Lionáird, and Ted Hearne. Povázsay received his Bachelor of Music from UNC-Chapel Hill and Masters in Orchestral Conducting from Northwestern University.
