Erik Higgins is a multi-faceted musician, composer, arranger and producer.  As a double bassist, he has been affiliated with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundunks, the Hamburg State Opera, A Far Cry Chamber Orchestra, the Handel and Haydn Society and the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly in chamber music festivals and series around the world. Higgins also has 15 years of experience in early music, performing on bowed bass instruments including baroque bass, gamba and violone with groups in Europe and the United States. 

Higgins has a deep appreciation for diverse musical styles, having studied Hindustani classical music, Scandinavian folk music, and Arabic music and performs as a duo with world-music luminaries such as Kinan Azmeh and Sandeep Das. He also released two recordings as part of the Indie-pop duo Britton Park and has co-produced numerous other recordings spanning multiple genres.

In 2019, Higgins founded the Lincoln Crossroads Music Festival, an ambitious and growing project that highlights and celebrates the artistic diversity of the American Midwest by bringing together international touring artists and local musicians who represent different cultural groups. He currently serves as the festival’s Artistic Director.
