Dawson White is a violist renowned for his visceral performances across classical, contemporary, and period music. With a deep passion for chamber music and leadership, White has performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Hall, and the historic castles of the German Rhine region. His artistic philosophy intertwines tradition with innovation, bringing both historical and modern works to life for today’s audiences.

With appearances as Principal Viola with the Houston Ballet, Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, Aperio, New Texas Sinfonia, and the Kinetic Ensemble, White is celebrated for his dynamic leadership and artistic vision. This season, he will guide the Kinetic Ensemble as Principal Violist and Co-Manager in a residency at Rice University focusing on climate and environment, and perform with period ensemble Philharmonie Austin in Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony.

White’s extensive performance background includes tenured roles with the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet, a current tenured position with the Cabrillo Contemporary Festival Orchestra, and substitute appearances with the Houston Symphony. His performances are distinguished by a profound commitment to spotlighting new and underrepresented composers and using music as a powerful lens to address the pressing themes of our time.
